"CRUISING FOR CHRIST" GCI Generations Ministries along with the Jacksonville, Florida & Woodbine Georgia GCI congregations of Christian Family Fellowship GCI, and "Cruising For Christ" Youth Camp, will sponsor a Teen Cruise Camp & Mission Trip to Freeport, Bahamas this winter, for teenagers and approved camp staff. Arrival Date will be: Dec. 27th in Ft. Lauderdale, or in Jacksonville on Dec. 26th. Departure Dates: Jan. 1st from Ft. Lauderdale, or from Jacksonville on Jan. 2nd. Cost: $450 per person, includes everything once you have arrived in Florida. Participants should bring their own spending money if they desire souvenirs, extra snacks, etc. The Cruise: Enjoy a 6 hour each way cruise on the Discovery Cruiselines “Sun”(www.discoverycruiseline.com), featuring free food and drinks, including nice sit-down meals together as a group, an onboard pool, arcade & game room, lots of sun decks, live music & karaoke shows, and a private conference room where we can assemble. No onboard cabins are needed. Teens will be required to stay together with their groups and group chaperones throughout the trip. The Outreach Mission: Freeport is the main city on Grand Bahama Island, a beautiful island in the Bahamas, about 100 miles from mainland Florida. Although the tourist areas display a lot of luxury and wealth, the population as a whole has to deal with economic struggles, many abandoned buildings, and unrepaired damages from the hurricanes of the mid-2000's. Our brothers and sisters there could use our help, even though we are just a small part of the answer. The Red Cross is in need of help with its facility, and we plan to dedicate 3 half days of labor to improving the outside of their facility, and building shelves & storage areas for donated goods. While the men are working on the Red Cross building and grounds, our female volunteers will be conducting a 3 day Christmas Vacation Bible School for neighborhood children. Our goal is to teach them about Jesus, and for those who already know about Jesus, to reassure them of His love and care for them. In addition, the children will enjoy a free lunch each day, and some supervised sports and recreation time.
